chī zǎofàn de shíhou, lǎogōng ná chū le wǒmen yì jiā rén de hùzhào, zhǔnbèi sòng qù Xiānggǎng yímínjú xù qiān. Ēnlín kàn le yì yǎn hùzhào, wèn dào:" bàba, rúguǒ méiyǒu qiānzhèng, wǒmen yì jiā rén kěyǐ qù nǎ'r?"

吃早饭的时候，老公拿出了我们一家人的护照，准备送去香港移民局续签。恩霖看了一眼护照，问道：“爸爸，如果没有签证，我们一家人可以去哪儿？”

During breakfast, my husband took out our family's passports and planed to send them to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for renewal. Enly took a look at the passports and asked, "Dad, where can our family go without a visa?"

lǎo gōng xiào le xiào ， kāi wán xiào de shuō ：“ mèi mèi kě yǐ liú zài zhè ér ， mā mā kě yǐ huí zhōng guó ， wǒ kě yǐ huí fǎ guó ， nǐ kě yǐ huí jiā ná dà 。”

老公笑了笑，开玩笑地说：“妹妹可以留在这儿，妈妈可以回中国，我可以回法国，你可以回加拿大。”

My husband smiled and  joked：" Your sister can stay here, mommy can go back to China, I can go back to France, and you can go back to Canada."

dào le qiān zhèng zhōng xīn ， wǒ men hěn shùn lì de ná dào le hào ， méi děng yī huì ér jiù jiàn dào le qiān zhèng guān 。 yīn wèi bù shì dì yī cì bàn lǐ xù qiān ， wǒ men yǐ jīng shì qīng chē shú lù le 。

到了签证中心，我们很顺利地拿到了号，没等一会儿就见到了签证官。因为不是第一次办理续签，我们已经是轻车熟路了。

When we arrived at the visa center, we got a number smoothly and met the visa officer in a short time. Since it was not the first time we renew our visa, we were already familiar with it.

qiān zhèng guān kàn le kàn wǒ men de cái liào ， wèn dào ：“ ēn lín zěn me huì yǒu liǎng běn hù zhào ？”

qiān zhèng guān kàn le kàn wǒ men de cái liào ， wèn dào ： “ ēn lín zěn me huì yǒu liǎng běn hù zhào ？ ”

签证官看了看我们的材料，问道：“恩霖怎么会有两本护照？”

The visa officer looked at our documents and asked, "Why does Enly have two passports?"

lǎo gōng jiě shì dào ：“ ēn lín fǎ guó hù zhào de yǒu xiào qī shì dào èr líng èr liù nián bā yuè ， bù zú liǎng nián ， suǒ yǐ wǒ men xī wàng yòng tā de jiā ná dà hù zhào xù qiān xiāng gǎng qiān zhèng 。”

老公解释道：“恩霖法国护照的有效期是到二零二六年八月，不足两年，所以我们希望用他的加拿大护照续签香港签证。”

My husband explained: "Enly's French passport is valid until August 2026, which is less than two years, so we hope to renew his Hong Kong visa with his Canadian passport."

qiān zhèng guān yòu dīng zhe tā de hù zhào kàn le yī huì ér ， rán hòu wèn dào ：“ nǐ men zěn me zhèng míng tā de jiā ná dà shēn fèn ？”

签证官又盯着他的护照看了一会儿，然后问道：“你们怎么证明他的加拿大身份？”

The visa officer stared at Enly's passport for a while, then asked:"How do you prove his Canadian identity?"

wǒ yǒu diǎn chī jīng ， jiù bǎ ēn lín de jiā ná dà chū shēng zhèng míng dì gěi tā kàn ：“ yīn wèi tā shì zài jiā ná dà chū shēng de 。”

我有点吃惊，就把恩霖的加拿大出生证明递给他看：“因为他是在加拿大出生的。”

I was a little surprised, so I showed him Enly’s Canadian birth certificate: “Because he was born in Canada.”

qiān zhèng guān lí kāi le yī huì ér ， yīng gāi shì qù gēn lǐng dǎo huì bào qíng kuàng le 。 méi guò yī huì ér tā jiù huí lái le 。“ chú le hù zhào hé chū shēng zhèng míng ， nǐ men hái yǒu qí tā de zī liào néng zhèng míng tā de jiā ná dà shēn fèn ma ？”

签证官离开了一会儿，应该是去跟领导汇报情况了。没过一会儿他就回来了。“除了护照和出生证明，你们还有其他的资料能证明他的加拿大身份吗？”

The visa officer left for a while, probably to report to his supervisor. He came back a little later. "Besides the passport and birth certificate, do you have any other documents to prove his Canadian identity?"

wǒ míng bái zhèng fǔ bù mén de gōng zuò rén yuán dōu hěn yán jǐn ， zhǐ hǎo qǐng jiào tā ：“ zài xiāng gǎng ， chú le xiāng gǎng hù zhào hé xiāng gǎng chū shēng zhèng míng ， hái yǒu qí tā wén jiàn néng zhèng míng xiāng gǎng rén de shēn fèn ma ？”

    我明白政府部门的工作人员都很严谨，只好请教他：“在香港，除了香港护照和香港出生证明，还有其他文件能证明香港人的身份吗？”

I understand that government officials are very strict, so I had to ask him: "In Hong Kong, besides a Hong Kong passport and a Hong Kong birth certificate, are there other documents that can prove the identity of a Hong Kong resident?"

tā gān gà de tái le tái yǎn jìng ， huí dá ：“ xiāng gǎng hé jiā ná dà méi yǒu guān xì ， zhè gè wèn tí wǒ yě méi bàn fǎ huí dá 。”

    他尴尬地抬了抬眼镜，回答：“香港和加拿大没有关系，这个问题我也没办法回答。”

He raised his glasses awkwardly and replied: "Hong Kong and Canada have nothing to do with each other. I can't answer this question."

    yú shì wǒ yòu cóng bāo lǐ fān chū le lǎo gōng hé wǒ de jiā ná dà yǒng jiǔ jū mín kǎ ：“ wǒ men de yǒng jū kǎ néng zhèng míng wǒ men zài jiā ná dà shēng huó guò 。”

于是我又从包里翻出了老公和我的加拿大永久居民卡：“我们的永居卡能证明我们在加拿大生活过。”

So I dug out my husband's and my Canadian permanent resident cards from my bag: "Our permanent resident cards can prove that we had lived in Canada."

tā jiē guò kǎ ， wēi xiào zhe ：“ hǎo ， nǐ xiān bǎ zhè xiē wén jiàn dōu gěi wǒ ， bù chū yì wài de huà ， nǐ men shí tiān yǐ hòu jiù kě yǐ lái ná hù zhào le 。 rú guǒ xū yào bǔ jiāo cái liào ， wǒ men huì gěi nǐ men dǎ diàn huà de 。 nǐ zài qù dǎ yìn yī xià nǐ men de yǒng jū kǎ gěi wǒ jiù kě yǐ le 。”

    他接过卡，微笑着：“好，你先把这些文件都给我，不出意外的话，你们十天以后就可以来拿护照了。如果需要补交材料，我们会给你们打电话的。你再去打印一下你们的永居卡给我就可以了。”

He took the card and smiled, "Okay, give me all these documents first. If nothing goes wrong, you can come and get your passports in ten days. If you need to submit additional materials, we will call you. You just need to go and print out your permanent residence cards and give them to me."

wǒ men mǎ shàng yòu máng zhe qù zhǎo dǎ yìn shì ， hǎo bù róng yì zhǎo dào le yī jiā ， yīn wèi hái méi yǒu dào yíng yè shí jiān ， mén hái bàn kāi zhe 。 wǒ qiāo le qiāo mén ， yī wèi gōng zuò rén yuán zǒu le guò lái 。

    我们马上又忙着去找打印室，好不容易找到了一家，因为还没有到营业时间，门还半开着。我敲了敲门，一位工作人员走了过来。

We immediately went to look for a printing room, and finally found one. Because it was not yet business hours, the door was still half open. I knocked on the door and a staff member came over.

wǒ gǎn jǐn wèn tā ：“ nǐ hǎo ， wǒ zhī dào nǐ hái méi yǒu kāi shǐ shàng bān ， bù guò wǒ yǒu wén jiàn xū yào dǎ yìn ， fāng biàn bāng wǒ yī xià ma ？”

    我赶紧问她：“你好，我知道你还没有开始上班，不过我有文件需要打印，方便帮我一下吗？”

I quickly asked her, "Hello, I know you haven't started work yet, but I need to print out a document. Will you help me?"

tā dǎ liáng le wǒ yī yǎn ， rán hòu xiào zhe shuō dào ：“ wǒ kě yǐ bāng nǐ ， bù guò nǐ zhǐ néng zài mén wài děng wǒ ， lìng wài yīn wèi xiàn zài hái bù shì yíng yè shí jiān ， wǒ zhǐ néng jiē shòu xiàn jīn zhī fù ， nǐ méi wèn tí ba ？”

    她打量了我一眼，然后笑着说道：“我可以帮你，不过你只能在门外等我，另外因为现在还不是营业时间，我只能接受现金支付，你没问题吧？”

She looked me over, then smiled and said, "I can help you, but you have to wait for me outside the door. Also, since it's not business hours yet, I can only accept cash payments. Is that okay with you?"

wǒ sōng le yī kǒu qì ：“ méi wèn tí ， nǐ néng tóng yì bāng wǒ dǎ yìn wǒ yǐ jīng hěn gǎn jī le 。”

    我松了一口气：“没问题，你能同意帮我打印我已经很感激了。”

I was relieved: "No problem. I'm grateful that you agreed to print it for me."

dǎ yìn hǎo le wén jiàn ， wǒ men yòu gǎn jǐn huí dào yí mín lóu bǔ jiāo cái liào ， rán hòu cái lí kāi 。 huí xiǎng qǐ lái ， zhè shì wǒ men shēng huó zài xiāng gǎng de dì wǔ nián ， wǒ cháng cháng zài xiǎng wèi shén me wǒ huì rú cǐ xǐ huān zhè zuò chéng shì ， wǒ xiǎng chú le shēng huó huán jìng hé jiào yù huán jìng ， gèng yǒu qù de ， shì xiāng gǎng rén kě ài ， rè qíng ér yòu bù shī yán jǐn de tài dù ba ！

打印好了文件，我们又赶紧回到移民楼补交材料，然后才离开。回想起来，这是我们生活在香港的第五年，我常常在想为什么我会如此喜欢这座城市，我想除了生活环境和教育环境，更有趣的，是香港人可爱，热情而又不失严谨的态度吧！

After printing the documents, we hurried back to the immigration building to submit the additional documents and then we left. Looking back, this is our fifth year living in Hong Kong. I often wonder why I like this city so much. I think in addition to the living environment and educational environment, what is more interesting is the lovely, enthusiastic and rigorous attitude of Hong Kong people!
